the 13-mile course

The course begins at the base facility of  Ski Santa Fe and leaves the ski area by traveling down the Windsor trail parallel to the ski basin road.  Once reaching the Norski parking area, the trail drops down into the Big Tesuque drainage before connecting with the Big Tesuque trail and heading back up toward the Big Tesuque campground.  Runners will cross over hwy. 475 (ski basin road)  run through Big “T” campground and merge with Aspen Vista Road.  The course continues 5.7 miles uphill until reaching Summit aid station.  But wait... there's more...another several hundred feet of climbing up Deception Peak will be the actual summit and top elevation near 12,300 ft.  The remaining few miles are steep single track along the wilderness boundary that bring runners back to the upper Windsor trail and the finish line.  Note: The 2017 route will be slightly longer than 2016, totaling closer to 14 miles than 13 depending upon final course approval.
